Even though the result did not show it, our performance against Kedron, who I believe is the best side in competition, was competitive in general play. Skill errors and concentration are still our Achilles heel, but there are signs that we will be able to pressure these top four sides on the score board in the second half of the season. Ben Greenwood has continued his solid form in the midfield. New recruit Peter Mclean was excellent in his first game for the club playing forward and then moving into the mid-field in the second half. Josh Ralph and Chris Hunter tried hard in the mid-field while Barry Morris and Chucky Hart were solid in down back.

It was another frustrating fortnight at the office but the side and the club is heading in the right direction. The Round 8 Beenleigh loss was disappointing but we were under-manned and received a few injuries to key personnel early which all contributed to the disappointing score-line. The game against UQ was disappointing because we dominated the game in general play but were unable to make the most of our opportunities, and went down in a game that we should have won. On a positive note we are still fighting and have not given up hope of winning games in the second half of the season. Sean Marler's in and under hard ball performance against UQ was outstanding as was captain Mick Foran. Jai Shires is starting to find his from in the ruck. Occy and Barry Morris held up our backline and new player Russell Rogers was solid playing in key positions forward and back. This week we are playing for the Doug Absalom cup against Calamvale at Calamvale. Lets hope we can get on the board with 2 wins. Key players Peter McLean is returning with Josh Ralph. New recruit Mark Harris has joined the club from Townsville prior to that he had stints at Williamstown in the high profile VFL comp. Mark will be a player to watch, he is very smart rover who will provide much needed on-ball grunt. Reardon Carr-Butler has also been included to the squad for his first game. Reardon is a tall key position player who has good hands and solid skills.

Mat Harley has continued his good performances up front with quality small forward contributions. He bagged two on the weekend to take his tally to nine. This week ses the return of regular full forward Andrew Williams and new recruit Peter Madigan. This will give our forward structure some much needed potency. Peter plays his first game this week for the club. He has been out with injury and work commitments; at his best he is a power forward known for his second efforts.
